Aegla sp Argentina

Freshwater "Squat Lobster"

Aegla sp Argentina

£17.50 each (current size 1-3cm)

*These are available on request only at the moment, and must be ordered in, payment is in advance, but is fully refundable in a situation where they arent able to be sent within an agreed period.

These are extreamly rare in the UK at the moment, native to South America, they get to around 7cm, and are very easy to keep, and can be bred in a freshwater aquarium.

Despite their common name these are not Lobsters or Crayfish, they are Anomurans, the same family of Crustaceans that Hermit Crabs are also members of, and are completly legal in the UK, as confirmed by DEFRA to another keeper of these, unlike all Crayish (except C. quadricarinatus) which are illegal to keep in the United Kingdom.

They require very clean, well oxygenated water, they do not require heating, temperatures around 26c can be fatal to them, they should be kept around 20-22c, so room temperature in most instances is fine.  A small filter, and one or more airstones powered by an airpump can be used, and is recommended.

They eat various foods, I give my ones mainly crushed sinking pellets, and pre-frozen bloodworms, they also will eat live aquatic snails given the chance.

Postage is set at £7 (United Kingdom only) for any number of Aegla, accepted payments are paypal, cheque or postal order, I can send these within the UK, and the EU (at your risk) postage rates differ for sending within the EU.
