New Zealand Peripatus

New Zealand Peripatus (Velvet Worm)

Peripatoides sp. subadults £6.50 each

Unusual, very rarely offered invertebrate species, native to New Zealand, they are found in cool damp area's, so need to be kept quite cool (around 12-16c) in captivity and very wet.  They are communal, and will often congregate underneath pieces of bark and old tree stumps, so adding some hiding places is important.

They are carnivoures, and will eat all suitably sized inverts, I feed them small Crickets, they will also sometimes eat woodlice, its a good idea to keep a colony of woodlice in with them, as they will eat the leftovers, keeping the tank clean.

They fire a glue-like substance at their prey to hold it in place, very rarely are they seen doing this in captivity, but the prey item can often be found glued to the substrate.  Its a good idea to use coco humous as substrate, with moss to retain moisture, they should be sprayed with cool water at least once daily.

If kept correctly this species is very easy to keep and breed.

Postage is set at £5.50 (United Kingdom only) for any number of Peripatus, accepted payments are paypal, cheque or postal order, I can send these within the UK, and the EU (at your risk) postage rates differ for sending within the EU.
